After sign-up, an automatic handle will be created for you. If you want to complete your onboarding later, you can return to theĀ app.hackernoon.com/profileĀ page anytime.

Staying true toĀ our policy, anyone around the web can read our stories without any conditions.Ā However, if they wish to interact with HackerNoon stories, viaĀ bookmark,Ā comment,Ā annotate,Ā react,Ā flag, among other actions - orĀ write a new oneĀ - they need to have an account.
With this in mind, our developers have modified the way HackerNoon prompts you to create an account - let's examine how it works:
- You're engrossed in a story;
- You desire to make anĀ annotationĀ on that particular story, so you select that option;
- You get redirected to the sign-up page and asked to input an email and password;
- Upon reading, you click the terms and policies checkbox;
- Voila! You're assigned a handle and guided back to the action you intended to perform before encountering the sign-up page.
This doesn't mean you can't pick your handle later or select the tags most related to your interests. These options are still available on yourĀ profile page settingsĀ and will always be throughout your time with HackerNoon.
